Summary
On her twelfth birthday, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. Three bumpy years later, after a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, she's exiled to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire on campus. Then, when a mysterious predator begins attacking students, and Sophie's only friend is the number-one suspect, a horrifying plot begins to surface. Soon, Sophie is preparing for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

This book is cute, but not really for me. I'm not a big fan of Young Adult. I like the new genre New Adult, but for some reason the heroine in this one feels way to young. It's just a personal preference, but I can't finish it.

I read this book like a decade ago, and it was good, but not a favorite. However, listening to it was amazing. The narration was PERFECTION. The narrator did an amazing job, especially voicing Sophie (very young), her great-grandmother (cute British accent), and her headmaster (proper Southern belle).

A nice little adventure overall with a couple of twists. But at it got stupidly, sickeningly moral at the very end. And btw, the narrator should learn to pronounce words, especially if it's the name of the setting where the story takes place. That was super annoying the entire book to have to listen to it said wrong.
