Summary
Heretics of Dune, the fifth installment in Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi series.
On Arrakis, now called Rakis, known to legend as Dune, ten times ten centuries have passed. The planet is becoming desert again. The Lost Ones are returning home from the far reaches of space. The great sandworms are dying, and the Bene Gesserit and the Bene Tleilax struggle to direct the future of Dune. The children of Dune's children awaken as from a dream, wielding the new power of a heresy called love.

It's constantly astounding to me how Herbert was able to write such timeless stories, especially with the way he chooses to write them (if you know how he likes to jump from book-to-book you may know what I mean). Five books in and he is able to keep building on the story of the first while constantly expanding the universe of Dune. I started off not being the biggest fan of how Herbert decided to tell this story. Heretics felt like it was bouncing all over the place, moving through different times and ages of characters, shifting in it's theme of humanity and time, but Frank was able to win me over. There is a lot going on in this book but somehow it becomes one of the most straightforward stories in the series with lasting consequences. Consequences that that I am looking forward to learning. This book does everything a sequel should and it does it well.

What? What just happened? I literally just listened to 18+ hours of a book that I can barely remember. There were too many main or focused characters. Essentially, this storyline needs more Atreides and less what ever this was. And can we please get rid of Duncan Idaho? I think this is it for me, the Dune series stopped at the God Emperor.

My favorite Dune novel is Heretics. I've been reading Dune novels since 1995, over and over again. You guys did a great job on narration. All the different voices and accents seems to be exactly how Mr. Herbert would have imagined it. "Long live the Fighters"

Good book. Good narrator. He narrates better than the author does.
