This book is hard to pick up as a standalone. There is a lot of information and characters that we are supposed to know. As far as shifter romance goes I think this one is quite weak. If you have not read the previous books and like to understand what the hell the book is talking about just read the first book and go on from there. The narration is nothing special. All in all entertaining but that is about it.
