The stunning new novel from the international #1 bestselling author—a searing, spellbinding blend of cold-case thriller and psychological suspense.

Two girls are forced into the woods at gunpoint. One runs for her life. One is left behind …

Twenty-eight years ago, Charlotte and Samantha Quinn’s happy small-town family life was torn apart by a terrifying attack on their family home. It left their mother dead. It left their father—Pikeville’s notorious defense attorney—devastated. And it left the family fractured beyond repair, consumed by secrets from that terrible night.

Twenty-eight years later, Charlie has followed in her father’s footsteps to become a lawyer herself—the ideal good daughter. But when violence comes to Pikeville again—and a shocking tragedy leaves the whole town traumatized—Charlie is plunged into a nightmare. Not only is she the first witness on the scene, but it’s a case that unleashes the terrible memories she’s spent so long trying to suppress. Because the shocking truth about the crime that destroyed her family nearly thirty years ago won’t stay buried forever …

Packed with twists and turns, brimming with emotion and heart, The Good Daughter is fiction at its most thrilling.

l really enjoyed this book. l have read alot of legal thrillers but have always passed over this author, but that Is changing now. l very much enjoyed this book and have just ordered another to start tonight. l think it might be a very late night for me!. l think both the author and narrator get five stars for this work! n

For me this was a true five star. It keeps a wonderful pace with plenty of twists and turns. The writers ability to tell tale of strength and survival was brilliantly done. You will not want to set it down.

I usually like Karen Slaughter novels, however, this one ... eh? It started off with one crime scene and then evolved into another unrelated crime. I did not care for the characters and their relationships with each other. It was a book with too many side stories that didn’t come together very well in the end.

This was my first Karin Slaughter novel... Great job! I was interested and engaged the whole way through! I am already listening to my next book by Ms. Slaughter. The narrator is one of the best I've heard so far!

The f word used way too much. Did not like the characters, and no mystery. A mean book.

The narrator was phenomenal, the book pretty meh I really struggled to finish this, even while painting and doing everything to get my house on the market followed by a fifteen hour move. Pretty predictable, the only likable character playing a minuscule enough role that he only popping up enough to remind you that he was a good guy.

Went into way to much detail. Would have been a great book if the story was cut in half by omitting all the detail!

I loved the dynamics between the 2 points of view shared by sister protagonists-- great vantage point. For me, this book was 75% awesome, but unfortunately there were points where the storyline look overly dramatic dips... I felt like if the author was told to keep the content but shorten the length, it could have been great. Still an engaging and entertaining read/listen with great narration!

This was my 2nd book by Karin Slaughter and I was not disappointed. she does tend to be a bit too descriptive but I'm getting used to it! I felt an attachment to the characters and even cried a couple times, that's something that doesn't happen often for me. I enjoyed the mystery part and hated to see it end! it's also the 2nd book with this narrator, love her too!

WOW! I am blown away by the narrator’s beautiful voice, she really brought the characters to life. And they were written so well, each one so complex. I love the way the book went between the past and the present. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. Absolutely loved this one and will search for more from this author.

This book should come with a trigger warning. School shooting, small child dying, infertility… just so much sadness with characters that weren’t incredibly likable. I would not have purchased this knowing how heavy it is and I do love crime books. The only saving grace is that it’s unpredictable

I love everything about this book

I found this book very disturbing and wonder if the author came up with such detailed and twisted-unending amounts of violence because the author lived this kind of life? Or perhaps grew up in the midst of a mafia town or Epstein island? The of twists and turns which were intriguing but too unbelievable. There really were no decent people. While perhaps the book tries to make the reader see the good and bad in everyone, all it really did was make this reader feel like this was trying to be written from someone on the spectrum with no real empathy or “theory of the mind” . If the author is going to describe mom’s “heart and brain tissue” all over a house and a horrendous attack but then skirt over the damaging and life long effect that would have on the psyche or the craziness of staying on the same town. Just unbelievable..unless maybe people live like this somewhere and if they do, plug me back into the matrix!!!

I enjoyed the story. I liked the backing up and filling in of details from each character's point of view. The narration was also easy to hear. Overall good book though I sometimes felt that she could have found more ways to tie together all the characters rather than just these separate totally violent things that just happen to happen to the same people so many years later. Other than the unlikely coincidence, though, I really liked it.

I thought this book would NEVER end! Way too many details! And the two main characters are extremely unlikeable. If the constant arguing between the two of them had been cut back, the book might have been fair. I definitely won’t listen to #2 in the series!

Interesting read with the main characters being relatable and imperfect. I enjoyed the legal setting and how it deeply impacted the daughters.

I enjoyed the story, but the constant repetition of certain events became boring. The story was good but could have been great with some judicious editing. Also agree with another reviewer that the location was a cliche of a small southern town that seemed to be populated with only assholes...a more realistic balance of good beside the evil would have made the novel more believable.

My biggest complaint about this book is that sometime the author went into too much detail or repeated events too many times. One of the main events was re-told three different times and it was difficult to listen to the first time, let alone the second and third. I understand she was telling it from different points of views but I didn't need to hear the gruesome details over and over and over. I got it the first time. Other than that, pretty good story and characters.

I? love suspense, psychological thrillers, and this was certainly a great choice. You start out with the characters as children then move forward about 30 years, and go from there. It was incredibly intriguing and I? loved every second of this book. It gave me JUST enough info to keep me wanting more. I? absolutely loved it! Karin Slaughter might just tie with Gillian Flynn and Jodi Picoult in my mind!

There is nothing better than a Karin slaughter novel. This story brought out many emotions for me as do most of her books. I didn't want the story to end however it was good. I would love to see these characters in a series they were that interesting. Five stars all the way as always with her novels and I absolutely love this narrator I wonder if they give awards for narration.?, Because she would get one.
