I was attracted by the title and description and it might be that as it's a series it might develop further. Too fantasy and not enough sci-fi for me. The dialogue seemed more aimed at young adults, which I am not adverse to as I read/ listen to many YA novels. Well narrated. If you're into witches and wizard themes you'll like it.

Interesting premise but I just couldn't get into the story or the characters. I might have to give this another listen.

The book was painfully slow, the characters shallow and the narrator’s voice with the whiny tone when she read the voice of Wanda was almost painful to my ears. This sounds like it is meant to be a book one, but I wouldn’t advise even getting into this one. If the author thought his or her writing created some dramatic culmination of the story, he or she fell far short of the mark, Aiden’s story had a little more meat on it but the author never ‘got there’ so I was the reader felt frustrated and apathetic at the plodding pace of this book with no payoff. The ‘Bargle’ was the most interesting part of this entire story.

nice idea, but very frustrating... seemed to be too slow and repetitive, and then... lined it up for a sequel without finishing or solving anything. there was a lot of potential to deepen the meaning behind the different factions, but in the end all very very superficial. I feel I wasted my time listening to this.

Meh. Never developed…plot, characters, world building, reason for tensions. Not even considering book 2.

11 hours of my life that I will never get back… just terrible story writing although the elements were interesting. Not worth spending your money on.

By the end I was quite invested and I'm looking forward to a sequel. However, it took a while to pick up and I was bored more than not in the first half. Over and over and over and over, we'd find the main characters being told some variety of "we'll talk later". Maybe just talk now and get the plot going sooner.
