Summary
'Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.
With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.
She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.
Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.
Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music!

I love everything about the first and second books of Fourth Wing! This is my second time listening, and I can not wait for the GA of Iron Flames to come out in May! 10 out of 10!

Excellent, it's always enjoyable to listen to a full cast graphic audio production with sound effects of a favorite book, really brings to life the fantasy genre, especially if they get the voices right. This is a great book, exciting and action packed with lots of great characters (the dragons are my favorite!). I already enjoyed the single narrator version, this full cast graphic audio version was very entertaining, like listening to an audio play of the book. Part 1 ended at a really intense part of the plot that makes you REALLY want to know what happens next, so I already bought Part 2 and i'm looking forward to diving in.

Love this book and wanted to get the graphic audiobook as soon as I finished reading it!! Wish both parts were released together. The music and sound effects were great—like listening to a movie! And the voice of Violet was PERFECT!! Unfortunately, the voice for Xaden missed the mark—instead of sounding strong, confident, and commanding respect, he often sounded obnoxious and immature—I really hope this changes for part 2 or they recast him for Iron Flame. Nothing against the actor, just not right for this particular role. I also felt as though the voice for Tairn could be deeper, wiser, and a litter more aged. I also think some of the names/words are definitely mispronounced if you are going for the authentic Gaelic pronunciation, but some of that is probably on Rebecca Yarros (hot topic, I know).

The narrator, while good, sounded more like a 14 year old than a 20 year old. The book, while also good, made Violet more cowardly than I expected. It was jarring. Toward the end it seemed to straighten out with the characters and I very much enjoyed the ending!

Violets narrator was perfect but Xaden’s didn’t feel right at all. I’m struggling to continue listening. I’d even say Dain’s narrator would’ve been better for that part.

Absolutely in love this the main narrator (Violet) in this audiobook. I wish Xaden was voiced by a different person. Nothing against the voice actor, his voice just doesn’t fit the descriptions. Also Tairn is the biggest disappointment. His voice in no way matches the grumpy, sarcastic descriptions in the book. I hope this is something that can be remedied in future releases.
