Summary
A hilarious, high-stakes adventure involving crooked casino boats, floating fish, toxic beaches, and one kid determined to get justice. This is Carl Hiaasen's Florida—where the creatures are wild and the people are wilder!

You know it's going to be a rough summer when you spend Father's Day visiting your dad in the local lockup.

Noah's dad is sure that the owner of the Coral Queen casino boat is flushing raw sewage into the harbor–which has made taking a dip at the local beach like swimming in a toilet. He can't prove it though, and so he decides that sinking the boat will make an effective statement. Right. The boat is pumped out and back in business within days and Noah's dad is stuck in the clink.

Now Noah is determined to succeed where his dad failed. He will prove that the Coral Queen is dumping illegally . . . somehow. His allies may not add up to much–his sister Abbey, an unreformed childhood biter; Lice Peeking, a greedy sot with poor hygiene; Shelly, a bartender and a woman scorned; and a mysterious pirate–but Noah's got a plan to flush this crook out into the open. A plan that should sink the crooked little casino, once and for all.

Exciting book that gets you right off your seat. Mysterious book you really need to keep on reading it to know what is going to happen next. Creates a lot of suspense.I will read it a thousand times.

This is a thoroughly entertaining book for anybody with a south Florida bent. The narrator was excellent, and it definitely keeps one's attention.

This was a fun book. I hadn't read any Hiaasen in a while and can't wait to read more. This was delightful to read.

As usual Hiaasen takes toxic waste and makes it funny. He makes an environmentalist point with a humoristic tale. I always enjoy Hiaasen's novels.

We liked this story from beginning to end. There was not a dull moment, the whole family listened on a long trip this spring. Carl Hiaasen really understands older kids (young adults) and doesn't dumb down a good story. And the parents really enjoyed it too. The reader was excellent as well. BUT we did like "Hoot" better, that's why we only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. if I had a choice it would have been 4 1/2 stars....

Another great mystery by Hiaasen. Keeps you laughing and thinking. Would be a great book for juvenilles also.

This is probably a fine book for a teenager, but an adult soon tires of the juvenile conversation. Two examples: the reference to "Grandpa Bobby", and the statement that the hero "didn't even know what color fuchsia was" All in all quite a disappointment, if there was an option for no stars I would have chosen it.
