Summary
In this delightful second chance rom-com, a hardworking doctor-in-training discovers that her new roommate is an irresistible ex.

On the verge of realizing her dream of being a doctor, Preeti Patel should be ecstatic. But between the stress of her residency, trying to find a job, and managing her traditional, no-boundaries family, Preeti's anxiety is through the roof. Relationships and love aren't even an option. Fortunately, Preeti's finally found a new place to stay . . . only to discover that her new roommate is her ex.

Preeti never quite got over Daniel Thompson. Super-hot, plenty of swagger, amazing cook—the guy is practically perfect. And if it weren't for their families, there might have been a happily ever after. But it's hard to keep her sanity and libido in check when the man of her dreams is sleeping mere feet away. Can Preeti and Daniel find a way to stand up and fight for each other one last time . . . before they lose their second chance?

I wanted to love this book, but it really felt like the main character was fetishizing her love interest. His character didn’t feel well developed, and I feel like we learned more about his looks and money than anything else. And as a Black woman, that made it a little hard for me to read this story.

I must say I was totally surprised that I loved this book. Being a Black Hispanic woman I know how having two different cultures is extremely difficult. That being said it was always explained to me that you can't help who you fall in love with. As long as they are not abusing you in any way it is ok to love someone from another race, culture, and even religion. I don't believe that just because you are with someone of the same race things will be easy. The same could be said of being in an interracial or intercultural relationship. I think the book shows how we often allow others to dictate our lives, and we whined up living miserable lives. It is not good for one's psyche and spirit, not to mention for the children who will also suffer. I am so glad that Preeti and Daniel decided to be with and love one another. I highly recommend this book.
