Sucked! Plain and simple. Wrong narrator. Should have male and a female...bad move. And don't even get me started on those emails...OMG!!!!!!!!!! I suppose if you like to listen to people talking about f*cking all the time (or perhaps your trying to learn how), then I guess this would be the book for you. I for one would knock the hell out of a man that talked to me like I was some kind of sl*t! No thank you.

Very unrealistic, badly written, and boring. Christian Grey doesn't come across as sex or mysterious, more so abusive and stalker-esque. I have no idea why this book is ranked so high.

I literally couldn't get past the first 5 minutes. The narrator is obnoxious, and writing is terrible.

I thought I would listen to see what all the hype is about. Got maybe to chapter 6 and wished I hadn't. That is time I will never get back!!! I wish I could scrub my brain from what I heard!! It's not that I don't like the topic (I enjoy some good smut every once in a while) it's just that the grammar was horrible, the topic ridiculous, the characters one dimensional, ignorant, and immature. The author obviously has no idea what a "subconscious" is, and well, if this is the future of sexuality for women, we have taken a major slide backwards!!! Something just as smutty and yet more cerebral would make double$$ what this piece of $h! has!!!

I love this book. The writing can be a bit cheesy at times, but the story line makes up for it. The reader was ok, but she was very breathy when she spoke, and the voices on characters with any type of accent were cringe-worthy. You can only expect so much, but she did a great job regardless.

Love the book!! But it was very strange hearing a female voice narrating the male parts but still could not stop listening!! I've listened to it several times no matter my feelings about a female narrator doing the male parts!

If you can identify and empathize with the insipid protagonist, you are part of what's wrong with popular culture. If you want less insulting lady-porn, try A.N. Roquellaire's "Beauty" trilogy.

This was quite possibly the worst "written" book I have ever had to fight my way thru. It has a wonderful storyline however, the author reused so many phrases it became comical. The main character is a charade of a young female and everything she does is completely ridiculous. The only way she could possibly be this naive would be to have been brought up under a rock.

I decided to read this book to find out the hype was all about. The story line is good but I have to say at least I got this for free when I first signed up. I finished the Fifty Shades of Grey in two days. It is a good book but Ana is so ignoring I wanted to fast forward on her parts and get to Mr. Grey. I have to say that I am excited that a film is being made on this book; lets see if they stick to the trueness of this book and not skip out on the main parts (wink wink). I give this book four stars but it's not something that I will hurry back to too reread. I will read the others as well got to read the rest to find out if this sex goddess deals with his so called "therapy" obsessions. Oh, and also the narrator was awful her voice is what made Ana so ignoring but I think that even if I read it myself, Ms. Steele would still be ignoring. lol. Now you know my opinion on the book, what do you think?

Horrible narrating! The girl has no emotion and her trying to sound like the men in this makes me laugh. Definitely not what I expected, wasn't worth the money/credit.

The story was read well but at times sounding a little too young for the characters age in the novel. I have read the actual books but wanted to see how it would sound in someone else's voice. I do wish they would have casted a male narrator for Christian's voice, however all the books prior to the Grey books where all written from Anastasias' perspective, so I could see only having a female narrator only to read this book.

I'm creating a series of immersive erotic audio experiences and wanted to know what made this book so successful. And where my stories are on the smut-meter. I have to say I was unexpectedly drawn into the story. How is he gonna tell her, how will she react, how will they make it work. It also made me feel a bit friskier towards my partner. Oh yay, mission accomplished. Although after a while the relentless sex does get a bit boring, as do the emails and reading out of the contract. Is it realistic? No, of course not, it's a fantasy. That goes without saying with this kind of stuff. I didn't write my content from a point of realism either. Maybe that's why this kind of content works so well for women. It satisfies a need to be unquestioningly desired, no holds barred. It's basically Cinderella with sex. Not the most original story but it's entertaining. It is, of course, unrealistic that the characters are so young and yet so fully-fledged, so in command of their carnal desires. Maybe that's why it appealed to a much older demographic. The narrator does take some getting used to. As a VO artist myself, I luckily resisted the temptation to imitate the voices my other characters, especially the male ones. It really doesn't work and takes us out of the story into the ridiculous. I understand why they choice this voice, the narrator is meant to be 21 and innocent, but there is a quality to the voice that jars a bit. I got used to it, apart from the voice imitations; my partner could not get over it. So, some people will mind that.

A first for me, amazing story. Loved how she stood up for herself in a world she herself didn't know much about. Brave,sexy and so much more.

This book is not remotely interesting. Both main characters are unlikeable. The story is hollow. I cannot rate it low enough.

It is hard to belive how this book started or brought to light the while bdsm D/s world to the general public. O am writing this review after reading all 6 books in this series from both Anna and Christian 's POV. of all 6 books, this one was my least favorite. Honestly I think the only purpose of this book was to lay the groundwork for the rest ofnthe books., meet the characters and introduce and explain the lifestyle to the readers. I am glad I listened to it and the next 5 in the series.

This book is a travesty to the written word, and while I am against censorship I feel I could make an exception. This book presents BDSM in a dangerous and false light, extraordinarily toxic relationships as acceptable or even desirable, and how disappointing the human race is. The author wrote this on a Blueberry during her commute to work. That alone is a glaring indictment of the trash quality of this “book”. Much more entertaining to look up Gilbert Gottfried’s dramatic reading on YouTube.

I heard all the hype about this book, no details about the backstory-just about how graphic it was...And I just wanted to read/hear the book before I saw the movie. This is my all Time favorite series. I don't want to spoil anything for listeners that haven't heard it yet but you can't help but fall in love with Christian flaws and all. The first time I listened to this book I was screaming at Anna to run as fast as she can from Him. As I got more into the book I could see He was falling hopelessly in love with her and so hoped she could help Him towards normalcy. The only thing with these books that annoyed me is Anna's attitude towards Christian's generosity because if I had a filthy rich guy buying me items I'd be thrilled. Narrator was terrific! I'm waiting on pins and needles for the movie to come out tomorrow as I can't wait to see it come alive on the big screen.
