Summary
Lucas Ray is shocked when an adorable puppy jumps out of an abandoned building and into his arms. Though the apartment he shares with his mother, a disabled veteran, doesn't allow dogs, Lucas can't resist taking Bella home.

Bella is inexplicably drawn to Lucas, even if she doesn't understand the necessity of games like No Barks. As it becomes more difficult to hide her from the neighbors, Lucas begins to sneak Bella into the VA where he works. There, Bella brings joy and comfort where it is needed most.

After Bella is picked up by Animal Control because pit bulls are banned in Denver, Lucas has no choice but to send her to a foster home until he can figure out what to do. But Bella, distraught at the separation, doesn't plan to wait. With four hundred miles of dangerous Colorado wilderness between her and her person, Bella sets off on a seemingly impossible and completely unforgettable adventure home.

A classic story of unwavering loyalty and incredible devotion, A Dog's Way Home is a beautifully told, charming tale that explores the unbreakable bond between us and our pets.

The main conflict in this book is so frustrating to me that I stopped listening to it. Lazy, lazy writing by the author. I can find at least three ways to solve the conflict so that it is a mute point - totally unbelievable.

If you're a dog person you will appreciate this book, if not don't listen to it. I found it quite refreshing, entertaining and sweet. I do like dogs though and will listen to it again. It's read from the dogs point of view so definitely different from the type of book I normally read. It's well worth the credit to me.

I read (listen) to books to get away from the real world, to travel to a most wonderful place, to end a book with a smile on my face and a longing to read/listen again - but not this book. Save your $14 credit and look elsewhere.

When it became clear things were going to get nasty for the dog I gave up. It's a bit cutesy, at least as read.

This book is a total waste of time. I kept listening waiting for it to get good but it never did. The dog catcher is set up to be the bad guy but the true bad guy is Lucas. The writer tries to convey how a dog would think in the situations that it finds itself in, but from my observation of dogs, it is clear that the writer misses the mark terribly.

This was a pretty interesting read until they got to the narrative about having two daddies in the family. that did nothing for the storyline and made me feel like I wasted my money on this book.

I liked this book as I love dogs, but I was immediately put off by: “Have you ever seen a forest ranger, except in your fantasies I mean…?” comment when the gay couple spoke. Sorry, the author should really focus on the “dog” part.

I liked that it's written from a dog's point of view, made it interesting. All of the characters sounded female. It was a little tough to listen to, will not listen again.

Story was very heart warming as to the love of a dog for his human and what the dig will do to be reunited with his human.

At first I wasn’t sure if I’d chosen the right book but it turned out to be very cute! Great Narration!! I laughed, tested up and was on the edge of my seat at times. It’s a little sappy but I ended up really enjoying it. I am now wondering what my dog is thinking when I’m talking to him!
