Unabridged Audiobook
“Branches and stones, daggers and bones” is a good way to start a book about newcomer Violet who has just moved to Four Paths, a town protected from a monster with their magical gifts by generations of Founders, which, turns out she is one. The characters in the book are interesting with the monster that kills those that stumble into the gray, is creepy. While I liked this book, it wasn’t quite as engaging as I would have liked, which feels odd to write, because I really did like this book. I can’t put my finger on it. It is a good read, but perhaps not a great read, but definitely a series I will continue and am looking forward to seeing what happens next. Finally, the reason for the low narration read is that while the voice was okay for the female voices, it didn’t feel right at all for the male. This distracted the success of the book as the male characters were intrinsic to the story but it just didn’t work.
