I loved the narration of David Piper, who brings out the suspense. Michael awakes one day, thinking it strange that his family has already gone out. Going for a run its Sunday and the roads are quiet. Returning home, his family has not return, and their phones are still at home too; they should back soon.. but they don’t. Michael starts to explore and finds the shops are empty and no one else is about. Michael adjusts to being alone. One day he meets a young girl who reminds him of his daughter, as more days pass more strange and dangerous creatures make an appearance It is near the end we find out why. I do not know if I would survive, waking up in a new world.

I am glad I requested to listen to this audiobook, and the person reading, David Piper, made this experience even more enjoyable! The story started a bit like a mix of “Empty world”, plus “ the Leftovers”, give it a good shake, and we have a story that resembles those books, but instead of having more “survivors” or even dead bodies, Michael seems to be all alone, in a world where everyone vanished. Hey this is the worst nightmare for most people , even more if we were in Michael shoes, beautiful wife, smart daughter, and in a vacation home near the beach… yeah not funny. But don’t let the story fool you, being alone is only the start of the story. I did enjoy most of the story, and David Piper was excellent in transmitting emotions with his narration, I felt the dread in some situations and almost panic in others, I was listening to him and saying to myself, “no… no… please, no…” my only complain about the story was that I felt the ending was a bit rushed, and I didn’t really fully understand what and why happened, but that is for me to know and for you to read and take your own opinion about it. I got a free AAC copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

This book was good.It was not what I would call a horror novel. It played out more like a gamer book ,bubble gun horror. Narrated by the main character, there was a feeling of disbelief, but not horror.Everyone was just gone. When we do find another person, she comes in like a bad cartoon character. Narration was good, but done so joyously,I couldn't feel horror, dystopian thriller or suspense.Maybe it was just all done too fast.It was more a good short Sci Fi story.
