Summary
#1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts—hailed by Publishers Weekly as “a storyteller of immeasurable diversity and talent”—presents the first novel in her Three Sisters Island trilogy. When Nell Channing arrives on charming Three Sisters Island, she believes that she’s finally found refuge from her abusive husband—and from the terrifying life she fled so desperately eight months ago.…But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore café—and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd. But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him, for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she’s so carefully created could shatter completely.Just as Nell starts to wonder if she’ll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers under a terrible curse—one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692. And now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women—and the nightmares of the past haunting her every step—she must find the power to save her home, her love…and herself.

Love this book. I have read it many times and enjoyed listening to it while I walked at the park everyday. I have to give the narration a 3 because the voice for Mia was way off. She was just turning 30 and the narrator made her sound like she was old and pinched. Not thrilled with Zach's voice either but it is hard for women to get mens voices right. Although I have read it so my times that the voices just don't match what I have given them in my head.

The story had a good build-up from the beginning, a slight lull in the middle chapter and then the build-up to the slightest of abrupt ending. The narrator was not the best but I have heard worse.

Great story and great characters. It was the perfect book to listen to while driving home from Texas to Idaho. The only thing I thought was not the greatest was the narrator’s voices. I think Nell’s voice was way too soft for such a strong character and the North Eastern accents the narrator tried to do didn’t sound right to me. I grew up in the East and the accents sounded off to me. It would of been better for her to not of done any at all. Over all it was great and I continued onto the second book.

I really like the story line and the characters are wonderful. I thought it dragged a little bit just past the half way point.
