Summary
Starring Orson Welles, Anges Moorehead, and Ray Collins, The Count of Monte Cristo is a tale of revenge and retribution. Edmond Dantès, a young, energetic sailor, is falsely accused of treason on his wedding day and incarcerated in the forbidding Château d'If. His escape and ultimate revenge on those who wronged him makes this one of the most thrilling stories in French literature, as compelling now as when it was first published in 1846.

A quick refresher of the general story of Count of Monte Cristo and a fun listen to great actors of yesteryear with sound effects that exude unmistakable early radio vibes - but this historic dramatization is marred by an obtrusive musical score that is way too loud and just wasn’t necessary. It is, however, Orson Welles and his Mercury Radio Theater so… enjoy it for what it is. Get a full length audiobook that isn’t so over-produced to get the real book’s flavor.
