Unabridged Audiobook
Jumps and skips often. Bookmarks do Not hold your place.
George R.R. Martin wrote a great story. And HBO's version of the book is very good, but the books are a little different, and Roy Dotrice does a very good job bring the story to life. Can't wait to get to the next book. Makes driving to and from work go by faster.
amazing!! love everything about these stories. Bought all 5 immediately lol
Great Books! love the narrator. Love this one just as much as I loved Game Of Thrones. The Narrators voice changes for each character .
Love!! I’m onto the next one in the series.
Fantastic book. much better then the show and worth the read.
The story is great, Roy Dotrice (may he RIP) was a great narrator though he made a few mistakes with characters at times. But the only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is that the book has skips. It doesn’t matter what I do, I have listened to this book several times and not once has it not skipped. It’s the only one that consistently does this.
what fun. I enjoyed this one more than the first. I wish I made more bookmarks, cause this one made me laugh out loud at many points.
Really good book!
Fantastical
Anybody else dying for some winds of winter?
Was helpful yet a little difficult to listen along from time to time.
Wow, this needed an editor. The author spent too many pages with minutiae and then kill them off a paragraph later. There is some fun here, but it is too few. Oh, and the voice actor was awful. Everybody sounds like the same pirate. Wrong book for that.
Just a fantastic series. So expertly read and narrated. Just a great pleasure to listen to. I hated the show initially, my son started reading the books and loved them. I gave it a chance. So glad I did. The characters are so much richer in Martin's original story, the changes of perspective that are not possible in the show are so brilliantly used to allow us to empathize with even the most coarse characters. Now returning to the show, I enjoy it so much more.
It kept jumping and every now and then sounded like it was a worn out record on a poor record player
The voice of the narrator is soothing and adapts the characters very well. I don't like the way he pronounces Petyr Baelish
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to hear the next one.
good book, but the narrator must not know English very well given his god awful pronunciations.
a wonderful listen. I enjoyed every bit.
Awesome great partner to the series. Grim in appropriate places, keeps you agonizingly on the edge of your seat in others
I really enjoyed this book. It fills in a lot of the story that Game of thrones the tv show left out.
Great book! Easy to follow
The book is brilliant. Characters are well-written and the plot keeps being interesting eventhough there is no Tolkien-scale epicness. The narrator is incredible and more importantly consistent in his performances.. the only bad thing is the audio... some parts are disturbed by strange rattle and sometimes it is the track breaks itself resulting in repeating a syllable for example.
can't wait to listen
obviously amazing
Extremely well narrorated and thoroughly engaging for all 28+hrs.
I really like the narrator for the series
Great book and amazing narration!!
I think the narration is amazing and of course the story or stories speak for themselves. I highly recommend!
great book and awesome voiceover
I adore this series.....love getting more in depth insight into the characters than the tv series provides. I highly recommend
This is a great listen! I'm so glad I didn't watch the series. Good lord. Dose every one die? Its clear, life has verry little value in this world. No one is safe.
I love how it is read but the animal voices are annoying.
Perfect narrator for this masterpiece. I would listen to this man read anything and I can’t get enough of the GOT books. I enamored with the tv series but the books blow the shows out of the water!
I scarfed this book down, with relish. Mmm Tasty.
Love this narrator, he is perfect for this book.
What can I say. Got is fabulous for sci-for/‘fantasy folk. Narration great too.
A fabulous book to listen to!
Fabulous fantasy novel, only made better by the talented Roy Dotrice.
Excellent, at first the narration is funny...but once I was used to him he was great!!
I didn't think I would get into this series when I first started listening to it. It was slow to start and had audiobook reading had been assigned to me as part of rehabilitation. I was wrong. It did take a while to get into book 1, but when it was over I couldn't wait to get my hot little hands on book 2. Book 2 has ended - much to my chagrin. I have loved every minute with these characters, and Roy Dotrice is tremendously talented.
These books just get better and better!
As always great book! I came to know of the book series because of the HBO show. As usual the characters are what drive everything. If you are up to date with the show, take the time to listen to the books.
exactly what I wanted out of an audio book! if o nly there was a speed control..
Great book, well written and hard to stop listening.
I don't like this narrator at all. His voices are distracting and sometimes super nasal and just weird. takes away from the story in my opinion
This is a great book in series . Lots of battle and action .
These books just get better and better! I can't think of an author who has done a better job head hopping between characters or making me feel truly connected.
Good read. Narrator does a good job with the many characters in this series.
Narration is better than the first installment and Martin's writing is superb as always.
Great book in Martin's series. Roy Dotrice is mostly great; however, a few of his voices left a little to be desired (i.e. Daenerys Targaryen).
Well read and the pace and character voices are appropriate and pleasant
Wonderful book. Great narrator!! Absolutely loved it
Great book, they continue to get better. The narrator can be difficult to follow at times. His impressions could use a lot of work.
I absolutely love this series and the narrator makes it even better, if that is possible. He adds voice an life into and already extraordinary story. Highly recommend it!!!
I am just starting with the series and it is absolutely wonderful. Roy Dotrice is a wonderful narrator but sometimes his pronunciation of names may differ, but other than that, I love it!
The book is well narrated, in spite of the extra explanation it has, it really captured my attention.
The story was fantastic and I was sad for it to end.
Great book and great narrator. I highly recommend this series of books (A Song of Ice and Fire).
Really enjoyed listening to this story. I will continue with the series.
This was a piece of literary genius!
Awesome all around! The story the narrator everything. I loved this book! Brain candy, I can't wait to hear them all!
Great book, great narrator. My only complaint is this: the discs that were digitalized were scratched so there is a decent amount of skipping here and there. Nothing crazy, just a minor distraction. This is no fault of the author or the narrator so I don't feel it fair to give a lesser rating because of it.
Great book. Excellent narration. Looking forward to the next book.
A bit slow on the take off but it's only because there are so many characters and it's tough to follow the family dynamics, heritage and alliances. Once you finally get this under your belt than you quickly come to appreciate the strategies that each House uses to try and overthrow and conquer.
The book is fantastic! The narrator is a little slow and some of his impersonations are borderline annoying. His pronunciations of some of the characters are quite comical, i.e. Brienne. Other than that, it was very enjoyable, I would recommend to anybody that wants to read the ASOIAF series but is too busy to actually read the books.
Really into this series, the books are so well written and I'm totally addicted! The narrator does an amazing job of all the characters. Only downside to this book is that it often skips which is slightly annoying but other than that I give it 5 stars!
The man reading the book read very slow, I would like the book to have a faster pace
This was a great book. The narrator does a great job of having a specific voice for the many characters in this book. It makes it easier to follow.
I love the book. To be honest, though, I really dislike Roy Dotrice's narration.
Listen to the books while driving my truck. Fantastic story and brilliantly narrated. The narrator uses his voice to not just read the words, but act out the scene, makes the work day go by quickly!
George RR Martin is a master storyteller! I love all of the details he adds, everything from the apparel to the courses at the feasts. I have also been watching the series on HBO, so I am curious to see where the novels and the series diverge. Definitely a worthwhile listen! I have an hour commute to and from work and the time flew by while listening . The narrator does a superb job in seamlessly switching from character to character. Two thumbs up!
Great book. Loved listening to it. I'm going to listen to the next book as soon as I can.
Great book. Loved narrator's work with Tyrion. Glad i found it here
Stellar read! I'm so glad I finally listened to book 2 of Fire and Ice.
Loved the story but they end the book to quickly ???? It was only 39 hours lol but I'm already looking forward to book three
Love the narration, it truly brings a great story alive.
Another great listen! I am so glad that I am up on the HBO series. The narrator is wonderful. However, if I hadn't watched the series I would have trouble keeping up with the audio book. I can't wait to hear World of Ice and Fire.
The narrator takes you back into a time when indulging in a book was never to be denied. George R. R. Martin's words have been put into the minds eye like you wouldn't believe. Enjoy!
Each one throughout has me breathless, in tears, pissed, or full of laughter between emotions I don't know how to describe. Let the series embody you!
love the book and narrator did a great job kept me interested through the entire novel.
If you are as obsessed with the series as I am this is a perfect way to get your fix until season 6 comes out in April 2016!! I love the narration and GRRM is an amazing writer. To think he was able to create this world and all the characters; it's truly mind boggling! I really cannot wait for the 6th book to come out! Since all the books are about 1000 pages it's great to be able to listen to it being read. I definitely recommend this series and the audio books!!
Loved it! Definitely hooked on the ASOIAF series :) this narrator is awesome
This is an excellent sequel to Game of Thrones. The multitude of richly described characters and never ending plot twists keeps the reader relentlessly engaged and entertained!
An amazing followup to a fantastic book. ACOK is busy setting the stage for the rest of the series, but does it in a way that is never heavy with exposition or boring with lack of action. This is one of my favorite books in the entire series and is a good summer read. The narrator is great with clarity and enunciation but is somewhat monotone and has some interesting pronounciations of some of the characters' names. Overall, definitely a good narrator that keeps you interested in the story. One annoying thing is that you are not able to skip to a certain chapter. If you are reading the book at the same time as the audiobook, you have to sort of guesstimate what hour you left off at in the book. It would be nice, especially with such a long book, to start listening from a specific chapter.
Undoubtedly an epic sequel that I enjoyed immensely, strongly recommended for fans of the television series.
I originally read the book series and thoroughly enjoyed them. I decided to listen to them, and so far I made a wise choice. The story is great (which I already knew) and so is the narration.
I started audio books with this series and Roy Dotrice narrating. And let me be the first to say I could not have had a better easing into audiobooks than this. Always an avid reader, I have wanted to read at times when it is not feasible and was quite dismayed until I tried this option. I was not disappointed. First the narrator, because without a good narration a book can be as bland as stereo instructions. Roy Dotrice is an amazing vocalist in his right. He assigns a voice and a style to each character and brings the story alive as he reads. You get much more than you bargain for! Anything by this narrator is sure to be a treat! This book was not quite as memorable for me as the first book or had as much impact as the third book in the series, but that may be because I have waited to rate these books. It may not be memorable, but it was just as easy and exciting to follow as the rest. Absolutely necessary to follow the story...this is really not a series you can pick up without having started from the beginning. The story continues here and the end has an amazing turnout that will surely upset you emotionally. Things seem to cruise along in this book until the very end and the world turns upside down. I suggest you dont get too comfortable...but no warning will prepare you for the twists this book takes.
Great series. After reading the first book and I had to read the second.
