Unabridged Audiobook
The author, Mikayla Davids, starts the book at the Christmas party where all the drama happens then we are taken to a couple of different times in the past - 10 years ago and then when they receive the invite to the Xmas party so we get to see their reactions. I loved how it was told from multiple characters points of view so you never got just one side of the story. The audiobook was an enjoyable listen as there were three narrators playing the different characters giving each character their own voice. This made it easier to follow along with the changing points of view. Can’t wait to read more by Mikayla Davids!
Wow! This one packs a punch - my all time favourite genre - psychological thriller! From the first chapter, where we are dropped into the family reunion - all swinging along nicely - until a body is found!I raced through this as I just was so intrigued and couldn't wait to find out more secrets about the family members, what the previous fall out was about and of course who the killer really was! I 'loved' all the characters - some obviously very unlikable people, but all perfect for this story - each one with their share of hidden past and all with a motive or two - I honestly decided it was all of them at one point or another ! The writing style was brilliant. Never gave away too much and left you dangling right to the end. Full of tension and pace - it kept me reading well into the evening to get it finished and resolved. I loved the flashback scenario where we know the outcome but take a step back a few weeks and hear the run up to the event which really helps to build up the tension. We also look at this from a few different pov which is great as you also then learn the inner thoughts from various characters rather than just the perceived views. A brilliant read, especially at this time of year - being set at a Xmas party and revolving around the family - I'd definitely recommend adding this to your wishlist. I loved it! **I also listened to the audio book and loved the multi narrator voices. This always just heightens the vivid visuals that I get from a book and portrayed the characters really well.**
I absolutely loved this book. It really took me by surprise as I wasn’t expecting the events to unfold in quite the way they did. Family drama is somewhat of an understatement for these sisters. I loved how the story was told from different viewpoints throughout. It gave it an edge and also just as you thought you had your opinion of a character fixed there was a new perspective of the event to change your mind. The characters evolved well through the plot. I’m not sure I liked any of them but that’s part of the story. I really believed it could have been any or all of them (no spoilers here). As an audiobook it worked brilliantly. The narrator really sold the characters and brought the feelings of events to life. Would definitely recommend this author and narrator.
