Summary
'Actor Soler's lively narration swiftly draws listeners into the magical spectacle at the center of Garber's YA novel' — Publishers Weekly, best audiobooks of 2017

Welcome, welcome to Caraval — Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of two sisters who escape their ruthless father when they enter the dangerous intrigue of a legendary game.

Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.

Couldn’t stop listening. There were plenty of plots twists - some I saw and some I didn’t. Also one of my fav narrators

Book was very descriptive. Kind of slow in the beginning. But once you are in, you won't be able to put it down. Looking forward to the next book being released next May!

This book was really colorful to say the least. I could literally see the colors as I listened, and by the end it had me wanting to create something just as colorful. The characters had me guessing the whole time, as I tried to figure out who was telling the truth and what was just part of a game. I did recommend this book to my sister and I'm hoping for a sequel soon. Also, the narrator is one of my favorites that I have come across so far. I've listened to about 4 books she has narrated and she was part of the reason I listened to this book. She does a good job of making the characters and story come alive.
