With her besties in the Big Easy, Nydia Santiago is second-guessing staying behind in New York City. So when Jasmine Washington calls with the exciting news that she's getting married, Nydia happily rushes to New Orleans to be her maid of honor. Once she visits the lovely Garden District estate her friends are transforming into a luxury inn, she's wistful to join them in their venture. Then she meets the sexy engineer in charge of the renovation. With his seductive Southern drawl, Lamar Pierce could make her believe in love again . . . Lamar is confident, responsible, and settled-everything her ex, an aspiring Latin music singer, wasn't. But Lamar is also a widowed father to a pre-teen girl in need of a mother, something Nydia's not ready to be. When her ex makes a very public proposal, suddenly Nydia is running from the paparazzi-straight into Lamar's arms. But is she ready to take the leap from singlehood to wife and mother?. . .

I just could not get into this book. Nothing worked in this story for me unfortunately.

This just didn’t work for me. Too much of everything, especially into that didn’t add to the story. Can’t quite explain what it was about the narrator, but it just didn’t work.

I liked the story overall. I believe there was too much detail given in many areas that was not necessary for the progression of the story. I enjoyed the characters and overall concept.

Not my favorite book by far. It was difficult to follow along with the characters. They seemed to be introduced too quickly with too much detail and then you couldn't remember who was who or why. Too much time spent with non-principal characters who only clutter the story. I tried to read it many times from the beginning and still had a hard time following. I couldn't get myself to finish reading it. It is a shame as it could have been a good story in principal. Maybe if it was half as long it would have been better.

I did not like this book at all. It was pointless and boring.

This book is basic. Nothing ever happens. It’s just a simple read/listen. Dumb at times.

I feel like there were other books prior, new to audio books so my rating may not be fair. Lots of repetitiveness.

It’s a little predictable and not much happens. Not a very gripping book. But if you want a light romance read that’ll make you crave Puerto Rican food, then give it a go. Great narration.
