Summary
Rupert didn't especially want to be a prince. And he certainly never asked to be the second son of a royal line that really didn't need a spare. So he was sent out to slay a dragon and prove himself-a quest straight out of legend. But he also discovered the kinds of things legends tend to leave out, as well as the usual demons, goblins, the dreaded Night Witch-and even worse terrors hidden in the shadows of Darkwood. Rupert did find a fiery dragon-and a beautiful princess to rescue. But the dragon turned out to be a better friend than anyone back at the castle, and with the evil of Darkwood spreading, Rupert was going to need all the friends he could get.

Great story flow for the young and old. story of good against evil with a few twists and turns that you don't see coming. Love the narrator's voice mellow and easy to listen to wished he did all the books I listened to

I did not want the story to end. The author painted amazing visions with his words. Excellent story! John is an excellent narrator who brought each of the characters to life. I definitely will be following up with the second book!!!

This book was fantasy at its best. The battles were ferocious, the last minute solutions to hopeless situations were pure fantasy. All in all a great read if you enjoy this genre.

What a fascinating listen! I almost didn’t start, as I thought about the second son of the king perhaps being boring. Well, the second son rises above his doubts and fears and becomes someone to reckon with.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, real escapism. I’m not a big fantasy fan but every now and then I find it refreshing. Loved the humour, the adventure and the not so typical behaviour of characters. Fun and interesting with a great narrator.

An astonishing lazy book. It's as if Mr, Green sat down to write and never went back to revise - characters change personalities constantly, scenes are repeated over and over and over. It's stunningly lacking in new ideas or unexpected moments. But it does manage to go on far too long, with meaningless side trips into the minds of unimportant characters that go nowhere. That said, it's a good natured book and easy enough to listen to. When not vacillating wildly between personas, Princess Julia, the Unicorn and the Dragon are fun characters. And the narration is solid, even if he only has three different voices to use for the few down characters.

It was longish but cute! I enjoyed the interaction of the characters. The unicorn and dragon where cool. I would recommend it.

Nice book. The first few hours put many smiles on my face. It’s a little more conventional and somewhat expected afterwards but still a good book superbly served by the narrator.

VIP choice. Talking unicorn, talking dragon, goblins, wizards. Gotta love it. Same good verses evil with a twist. Narrator was awesome.
