Summary
Jenna Miscavige Hill, niece of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, was raised as a Scientologist but left the controversial religion in 2005. In Beyond Belief, she shares her true story of life inside the upper ranks of the sect, details her experiences as a member Sea Org—the church's highest ministry, speaks of her "disconnection" from family outside of the organization, and tells the story of her ultimate escape.

In this tell-all memoir, complete with family photographs from her time in the Church, Jenna Miscavige Hill, a prominent critic of Scientology who now helps others leave the organization, offers an insider's profile of the beliefs, rituals, and secrets of the religion that has captured the fascination of millions, including some of Hollywood's brightest stars such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

I've watched several documentaries including Leah Remini & Mike Rinder's series, and there are way to many individual accounts that corroborate each other to NOT believe their stories. They are truly some of the strongest people I've ever known of. Jenna's book is fantastic and horrific at the same time. I hope it helps others to get out & prevents anyone who is thinking of joining this cult.

Great book, but it can be a bit monotonous at times. Just a day to day insight of what it's like growing up in the Church or Scientology, however, very informative and shocking!

good book would have been better if Jenna had read it herself

It's an okay book, but I wouldn't call that a harrowing escape though.

I could not tear myself away from this incredible and emotional account, even when not listening I could not wait to find out what happened next, truly incredible story with such sadness and bravery, gripping and insightful. The narrator Sandy Rustin did a great job and I highly recommend this book if you ever had an interest into the inner workings of Scientology.

Extremely interesting! Even when I wasn't listening to this book I found myself thinking about it. Loved her story, especially since it was written from her point of view. Not quite finished yet, but already recommending it to others. Loved it!!

Whiny. I am fascinated by the subject matter generally, but her perspective was so self-centered and one sided that it was hard to get through.

Very boring - she speaks in another languages-she can,t help it and nothing happens except people are treated unfairly. Vee

This is a very revealing look at the inner operations of Scientology, coming from someone very close to the heart of the organization. This book is full of emotional events and the narrator does a good job of conveying that. She also does a good job of reminding you that the Jenna was, throughout most of the book, a very young girl--something that's easy to forget when listening to the kinds of responsibilities and experiences she had. This is a fascinating first-person look at social brainwashing and control.
