Unabridged Audiobook
Fake relationship perfection I loved this opposites attract, fake relationship swoon worthy story. Gina and Max were wonderful together. They were portrayed so well as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy humans. Melissa Moran did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life with her narration. Max is a financial analyst with the FBI who has some OCD tendencies. He realizes he desperately needs a temporary fake girlfriend after he tells his family at Thanksgiving that he has a girlfriend in order to stop their matchmaking. Gina is subletting the apartment next to Max and bought a dog as a Christmas present for her brother. She is much less regimented than Max. When Max catches Gina sneaking a dog out of the apartment, which is against the rules of the building, he agrees to help keep her secret if she agrees to be his fake girlfriend through Christmas. Their very real and sizzling chemistry makes the lines between fake and real get blurry and things get complicated fast. The book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, steamy scenes, strong friendships, difficult family dynamics, laughs, painful pasts, and all the heart squeezing love. Experiencing the journey of Max and Gina as they fall in love and work through their individual issues gave me all the feels - you will laugh, cry, swoon, cringe, cheer, and happy sigh. This story includes three dimensional characters who grow, witty dialogue, and an engaging storyline with light angst. I hope there is more in this series.
