Summary
Getting rich is not just about luck; happiness is not just a trait we are born with. These aspirations may seem out of reach, but building wealth and being happy are skills we can learn.

So what are these skills, and how do we learn them? What are the principles that should guide our efforts? What does progress really look like?

Naval Ravikant is an entrepreneur, philosopher, and investor who has captivated the world with his principles for building wealth and creating long-term happiness. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant is a collection of Naval’s wisdom and experience from the last ten years, shared as a curation of his most insightful interviews and poignant reflections. This isn’t a how-to book, or a step-by-step gimmick. Instead, through Naval’s own words, you will learn how to walk your own unique path toward a happier, wealthier life.

An easy read. Full of great little life tips, some of which you’ll agree with and others that might not be fitting. Regardless, this book is good for anyone wanting to possibly try something new or learn more about living a more meaningful life. A few notable excerpts: Getting rich is about knowing what to do, who to do it with and when to do it - it is much more about understanding than hard work Society always wants new things and if you want to be wealthy, you want to figure out which one of those things you can provide for society that it does not yet know how to get but it does want. If it is within your skill set and capabilities, find out how to build it, and then scale it. Escape competition by being authentic Great ideas don’t happen when we’re busy or stressed Learn the skills of decision making If you stop trying to figure out how to do things the way other people want you to do them, you get to listen to the little voice inside your head that wants to do things the way you want to do them then you get to be you Meditation is turning off society and listening to yourself Hiking is walking meditation Journaling is writing meditation Praying is gratitude meditation Showering is accidental meditation Sitting quietly is direct meditation Anything you have to do, just get it done Social approval is inside the heard - the returns of life are outside the herd Try everything, test it for yourself, be skeptical, keep what’s useful and discard what’s not
