Summary
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the propulsive debut novel from the host of the #1 true crime podcast Crime Junkie, a journalist uncovers her hometown’s dark secrets when she becomes obsessed with the unsolved murder of her childhood neighbor—and the disappearance of another girl twenty years later.

ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR: PopSugar

You can’t ever know for sure what happens behind closed doors.

Everyone from Wakarusa, Indiana, remembers the infamous case of January Jacobs, who was discovered in a ditch hours after her family awoke to find her gone. Margot Davies was six at the time, the same age as January—and they were next-door neighbors. In the twenty years since, Margot has grown up, moved away, and become a big-city journalist. But she’s always been haunted by the feeling that it could’ve been her. And the worst part is, January’s killer has never been brought to justice.

When Margot returns home to help care for her uncle after he is diagnosed with early-onset dementia, she feels like she’s walked into a time capsule. Wakarusa is exactly how she remembers—genial, stifled, secretive. Then news breaks about five-year-old Natalie Clark from the next town over, who’s gone missing under circumstances eerily similar to January’s. With all the old feelings rushing back, Margot vows to find Natalie and to solve January’s murder once and for all.

But the police, Natalie’s family, the townspeople—they all seem to be hiding something. And the deeper Margot digs into Natalie’s disappearance, the more resistance she encounters, and the colder January’s case feels. Could January’s killer still be out there? Is it the same person who took Natalie? And what will it cost to finally discover what truly happened that night twenty years ago?

Twisty, chilling, and intense, All Good People Here is a searing tale that asks: What are your neighbors capable of when they think no one is watching?

Absolutely loved the storyline until the end, hated the ending. I would have liked some closure.

My only complaint is in the beginning the case felt reminiscent of the Jon Benet Ramsey case. Dancer vs beauty queen, twin vs brother. Those sort of things. It felt to safe. However, as the book and characters developed I was pleasantly surprised with how captivating it became. I hope Ashley continues to write more novels. She definitely has a gift.

Her true crime background really helps to takes you on a journey in this thrilling murder mystery! Wish the ending had a little more closure, but still a great listen!

I so very much wanted to love this book. I'm a pretty big Ashley Flowers fan from all the great podcasting work she does. I didn't love the book. It's pretty solid. It's not bad, by any means. I feel like it was very cookie cutter. It checked all the murder/mystery/thriller boxes. It just didn't go much beyond that. I had figured out all the plot twists well ahead of time. I thought it was pretty obvious, actually. I hope Ashley keeps writing novels. I think this first time out was a solid effort. Just a little too safe, and cliche.

Great book! really interesting and surprising. not a huge fan of the way it ended but i understand why it was done that way. i would reccomend!

Did not like the ending at all. The uncle could have saved her or the police friend could have saved her. Jodie could have saved her!! I felt like the book just stopped before it ended. Enjoyed it until then.

Love the book but that ending left me hollow. Another couple chapters would have been nice. The fact that it was left so open makes me wonder what the authors ultimate goal was. To me, this book is unfinished so I will only give it 3stars.

I thought it was a good read but did not like the ending. After going through the whole book you are left without knowing what happened.

I went into this book with high expectations because I love all of Ashley Flowers’ podcasts. It honestly just let me down. I really hated the narration, like I get it would have been too much work to include a male voice actor, but at times it was so distracting. To be fair, I don’t think fiction is for me, because of my crime junkie mind I wanted to see which each character looked like. If she were to make another book, I’d probably read it, but I definitely would go in with lower expectations

Every time you think you have it figured out (right along with Margo), the plot takes a turn. Such a great story, Ashley wrote!

The story line references Jon Bennett, Ashley did an excellent job keeping my attention with all of the details and well thought out story telling. At the beginning of the book I couldn’t connect with Margo, half way through I really came to like her character so I’m a little confused on the ending.. I’m hoping there’s a sequel or some type of explanation to what happens to Margo. Thanks Ashley for the awesome ending, your voice reading the epilogue was the best part. Can’t wait to see where you take us crime junkies next!

The ending really sucked. Overall, I enjoyed the book until the end. The cliff hanger left me not wanting to ever read a book by this author again.

I wanted to love this book. I listen to Crime Junkie every week. I HATED the "ripped from the headlines" twist mostly reminiscent of the JBR case.

This book seemed eerily similar to the Jonbenet Ramsey case. Other than that, it was well paced and an interesting story. Looked forward to listening every time I was in the vehicle. The narrator was awesome.

I personally do not like cliffhangers and I may be spoiled by Netflix but it was waaaay too slow. Sorry, I thought I would like this book more but alas.

Loved this book. I really hope their is a sequel, because the ending didn’t do it for me. Like why? But, still really enjoyed the book and will recommend to my friends!

A good book with good narrators, the only thing stopping it from bieng 5 stars is that the ending was kind of anticlimactic.

I really enjoyed it. There were so many twists and turns, which kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. However, I still have some unanswered questions (even after the epilogue), and I can’t tell if that was intentional or whether it’s something that the author overlooked while writing. Overall a good suspenseful read though!

I mostly enjoyed the book, saw a lot of parallels to jonbenet ramsey which seemed kind of lazy to me. I hated the ending. It was a big build up and then a rushed through ending leaving you on a cliff hanger.

I couldn't stop listening. Just when you think you have it figured out, there's another plot twist. Excellent book.

Great book! Very "active" throughout with what I felt was very little unnecessary 'filler'. I will say that the voice narration for the male parts was a bit hard to listen to and was initially very distracting. I found myself wanting to buy the physical book so I could just read it myself - allowing me to 'hear' all the voices as I would imagine them to sound. I may very well buy the hard copy so I can read it myself, but I made the decision to stick with the audio book for now so I could hear it while driving to and from work each day. The epilogue was chilling for sure.

My first audiobook of the year and what a story!!! I really enjoyed this fast paced crime thriller. It had everything I wanted: dark secrets, evil villains, disturbing small towns and a twist so sudden it took me by surprise. Lots of thanks to the amazing narrators, who did a superb job in getting a chilling feeling across and made me gasp out loud a few times. And that ending! Mindblwoing but then, I do enjoy an ending that keep you guessing. Well done!

Full of cliches and I found it to be very predictable. There are plot holes and inconsistencies as well as a cast of typical characters without depth. I’m shocked the reviews are so good.

I am going to agree with those who felt it was closely related to the Jon Benet case. Being that the Benet case was & still is considered to be a high profile unsolved cold case, it allows for one to deduct any hypothesis regarding the theories related to the case. This book follows many of the hypothesis given in that case. While this book was an enjoyable read, i found myself easily surmising what the next chapter would focus on. After learning of certain people or scenarios it was all too clear, to me, what direction the following chapters would be about. With that said, kudos to Ashley (using her first name as if I know her personally!) for believing in herself, knowing she has what it takes to follow through on such an endeavor & I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

ALL GOOD PEOPLE HERE -- I enjoyed this book. It held my attention and I eagerly listened to hear what would happen next. An excellent twist of circumstances kept me attentive. I believe Ashley Flowers writes well and hopefully will continue writing mystery crime novels.

This book was such a wonderful listen. The narrator did a great job telling Ashley’s story. I was nervous I wouldn’t like it being narrated by anyone but Ashley, but I was pleasantly surprised! This book sucks you in, making you not want to stop listening! Anyone on the fence… give it a shot- you will not be disappointed!!!

This story was unexpectedly compelling and well written! I listened to podcasts all the time, so I was familiar with Ashley flowers name and the book has been promoted in the Podcast I listen to but I really didn't expect much. I mean podcasts are often not particularly well written. This was way above and beyond what I had expected in fact I no longer think of Ashley flowers as a Podcast person just a Podcast person and I now think of her as a writer who podcasts. The story had so many twists and turns I always thought that I was seeing where we were going, and yeah at times I suspected all the people that she did, but the way that it was woven together was just brilliant. It's exceptional I'm really looking forward to her next work.
