Summary
A Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Secrets told in the church ladies' room are supposed to stay in the ladies' room. But that doesn't mean that what Trudy overhears there during her great-aunt Gertrude's funeral won't change the rest of her life.

Trudy has a daughter in the middle of a major rebellion, a two-timing husband who has been cheating for their entire married life, and a mother with Alzheimer's residing in the local nursing home. She doesn't really need a crumbling old house about to fall into nothing but a pile of memories and broken knickknacks.

Billy Lee Tucker, resident oddball in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, lived next door to Gert, and in her will she leaves him the funds to help Trudy remodel the old house. That's fine with Billy Lee, because he's been in love with Trudy since before they started school. And just spending time with her is something he'd never ever allowed himself to dream about.

A beautiful home rises up from the old house on Broadway, and right along with it rises up a relationship. But is Trudy too scarred from what she heard in the ladies' room to see a lovely future with Billy Lee?

As others have said just such a lovely easy listen. No frustrating characters or misunderstandings just easy on the soul. I loved it and will be listening to more of hers.

I absolutely loved this read! I laughed (a real belly laugh) several times! I enjoyed having this audiobook read to me at home, in the car, while walking the dog, and literally every place I went. I didn't want to put this book down. I tuned in everywhere I went and commenced to laughing loudly and talking to the characters. This is just a good book! A story about love and finding oneself! It made me feel good and made me feel hopeful while the world was falling apart all around me. This is a wonderful story to make you question what you've done to feel "poor and blessed" and whether you'll choose to stay that way! I hate it when people respond with, "I feel blessed"! I think it's a cop out and very condescending so I loved this story!.I, like this main character, choose not to feel "poor and blessed"! Before you get all mad about this statement, read this book! Enjoy some laughs and move on! I loved every word and look forward to reading something else that makes me feel a little less "blessed"! Thank you for this great read!!!

A delightful escape from sheltering at home. Characters were often a little unbelievable as was plot, but that did not keep me from enjoying it. Humor and escape.
